Review
"I chose this text because it seemed to be the best at covering all the topics I thought should be in a nonprofit management class in a way that was accessible both to students who had no nonprofit experience and students who did. I use it for a joint undergrad/grad class so it has to be useful for both groups. I’ve had nonprofit directors sit in on my class and they found it useful." Author: Ann Marie Kinnell"This text is a must-read for undergraduate and graduate students interested in learning more about or pursuing a career in the nonprofit sector. It is an excellent resource for gaining greater insight into the theories, best practices, policies, and trends underlying the effective management of nonprofits." Author: Catherine E. Wilson"The books offers a very comprehensive coverage of topics. If students read one book to get a sense of what is involved in nonprofit management, it should be this book." Author: Chandra Commuri"This text provides a breadth of topics that any nonprofit professional needs." Author: Christopher Klingeman"Provides a solid overview of the key components for nonprofit organizations and their management as well as governance." Author: Christine W. Cugliari"We began using it the first year of the first edition without a companion. The chapters align to the social work management competencies. Students enjoy the text. This is a terrific text." Author: David A. Coplan"I have used this text for four years and believe strongly it is one of the best on the market. My students report that they keep this text for future reference." Author: Deborah Harley-McClaskey"Excellent organization and useful in teaching in that the modules build upon each other." Author: John Conahan"Students and faculty find this book to be one of the best for nonprofit work. The book provides theoretical perspectives along with real world application which is what we want our students to get. As a program preparing students to lead the more than 2 million nonprofits, this book provides an outstanding foundation." Author: Lynn W. Clemons"The cases, or vignettes, that accompany the existing chapters are excellent resources for students. They reflect situations and organizations that are "accessible" to students. They enhance the chapters." Author: Marilyn L. Grady

Excellent book, Worth is straight forward and clear in his writing. His blends practitioner literature with academic sources well. Real world cases are provided at the end of every chapter. The chapters are relatively short and read well. This work is a great starter textbook for the non-specialist. A glossary would be a welcomed addition. Otherwise, Worth's work is highly recommended.
I am taking a nonprofit course this semester so needed this book. The chapters are very lengthy but loaded with a lot of information. It is easy to read and enjoy the ease of understanding what is written and the knowledge that I've learned from this book. It's definitely in the top five for good, solid information.
This book offers a good, solid introduction to nonprofit organizations and the management of them. The pages are thin though, something that posed a challenge for me because I love to highlight and write darkly.
This book is a little bit of a dry read. While most of the concepts are interesting, all that the first chapter does is explain what views the book will be taking on certain issues and what it will be going over. Most of the concepts are in italics rather than in bold, which makes it hard to find the important things and take good notes.
As any well-written reference book should be, this book can be read completely through or the reader can go directly to any chapter and feel right at home. The author frequently points out where opinions differ from his and provides info for the reader to explore other opinions.
I purchased this for a class. The text provides a good overview of non-profit management. A lot of the text is simply summaries of other articles and texts. I wanted more depth, but perhaps this is deep enough for an undergrad class at a community college.
The book has a strong odor of smoke. I hope this dissipates. There are obvious water stains and about 20 pages are not attached to binding. This is all in addition to usual used conditions I would expect like underlining and marks. That part I don't mind, used right? But, overall, worse used book I have ever bought and for $65, yikes. I wish now that I had purchased new and spent the extra money. Bummer.
The rental was not in great condition, obvious water damage on the cover and first few sections. Book itself is informative but a tedious read.
