About the Author

James C. Martin (MDiv and DMin, Fuller Theological Seminary) founded Bible World Seminars in 1989. He currently offers biblical study travel programs on location in Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, and Greece. Over the past twenty-five years, Martin and his wife, Stacey, have been involved in aerial, land, and museum photography and video filming throughout the Middle East and Europe. Their photos appear in works such as the NIV Archaeological Study Bible, Halley's Bible Handbook, and A Visual Guide to Bible Events, among others.John A. Beck (PhD, Trinity International University) has taught courses in Hebrew and Old Testament at various colleges and universities for more than 20 years. He currently is an adjunct faculty member at Jerusalem University College in Israel. His articles have appeared in numerous academic journals and books. His books include The Land of Milk and Honey: An Introduction to the Geography of Israel, God as Storyteller: Seeking Meaning in Biblical Narrative, A Visual Guide to Bible Events, A Visual Guide to Gospel Events, and more. Beck lives in Wisconsin.David G. Hansen (PhD, Trinity Theological Seminary) has taught at several institutions of higher education, including the US Army War College, Penn State University, and Trinity Theological College and Seminary. He also served in the US Army for thirty-five years. His current on-site research in Israel, Jordan, and Egypt includes extensive travel and participation in several archaeological excavations. Most Bible students know that context is everything in trying to understand the text. What this book provides that many others do not is information about the location context for many familiar Bible verses. This literally opens up a whole new way to go deeper into the text. People that heard Jesus speaking at a location tied that location to many others concepts and now you can do the same and hear Jesus better.

I love it. I first borrowed this book from the public library...twice! Then decided to purchase it. I realized that I couldget a better price on amazon.com than anywhere else.I was right. I truly enjoy the facts in this book, even thoughI weigh it against the facts in other books. This booktells you when there is an assumption made, and wherethere is actual evidence to back up the facts. I appreciatethis as well.

When you read the Bible there are regions and places mentioned but where are they and what is the significance of those places? This book shows explains it and provides good photos.

Photos of places, statues, etc. Connected to Bible events. Short but informative articles tying Scriptures to visuals that help you see what you are reading about. Very helpful even to those of us who haven't been there yet.

The authors have done a tremendous job of describing key Bible events in their context, helping the reader understand the significance of why an event happened where it did. Beautiful photographs accompany the well-written and concise text, which includes many Bible passage references. An unusual book that will be a very welcome addition to your Bible study library. Highly recommend!

I so enjoyed the photos and information in this book. This helped me understand why certain Bible events took place. I highly recommend for Bible students. (I also have the other book written by James C Martin which is also great for understanding.)

This is a collection of brief, but expertly written accounts of Gospel events. By combining scripture, geography, pictures, maps and images it connects the dots and provides clear insight into the meaning and context of Gospel stories. I bought this book because I had the wonderful experience of being on a field study of the Holy Land, which was led by one of the authors John 'Jack' Beck through the Jerusalem University College. This book is a perfect follow-up and builds on the that experience, but it can also provide new and intriguing insight for anyone who has not been to the Holy Land.

Both this book and the other one in the series ("A Visual Guide to Bible Events") are absolutely fantastic in linking geography of the Bible with the significance of stories that took place in the associated areas. I'm a trip leader to Israel and I recommend these two books to all of my participants!
